Tim Belknap Bodybuilding Biography

Tim Belknap Bodybuilder Mr America and Mr Universe

Tim Belknap Bodybuilder

Tim Belknap was born in Rockford, Illinois, USA on the 24th December 1958. Tim was a diabetic on insulin before he started training with weights, however the fact that insulin is one of the growth hormones that you have in the body it is understandable how Tim was able to pack so much muscle on his 5'4" frame.

Time would weigh around 230 pounds in the off-season and compete at above 200 pounds. This put him on a winning role in the NABBA short man category and showing a small compact bodybuilder competing in the heavyweight category of an IFBB competition.

Tim competed under light-heavyweight when he entered the IFBB World Championships in 1981 where he placed second. Although Tim was not directly active with the American Diabetes Association he has been an inspiration and motivation for many young Type I diabetics.

There is no public record of where Tim went to school and when he started training with weights. However if you consider the size and strength of this little short man, it is more than likely that he had been training for years before we saw him.

Most of what being of being a good bodybuilder has more to do with nutrition than the weight training room. When a well-controlled diabetic on insulin decides to become a bodybuilder, he or she would have the required calorie awareness that would help any bodybuilder. It is this together with the fact that insulin is a growth hormone combined that produced results.

Tim was always trying to do better and competing as a professional bodybuilder is a tough life as Tim often was placed in a worse placing than he deserved. There are many examples, which can be seen in his competitive history, not the least of which was at the end of his career when he placed 7th at the 1991 IFBB San Jose Pro.
