Arnold Schwarzenegger Bodybuilding Biography

Arnold Schwarzenegger The Best Bodybuilder Ever

Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger was born in Thal, Austria which is a small village that borders the Styrian capital Graz in July 30, 1947. His father Gustav was the local police chief who married Aurelia after World War II. Arnold started training at a gym in Graz at 15 years old and decided that he wanted to be a bodybuilder.

Arnold had dreamed of moving to the USA since he was 10 years old and it was only in September 1968 at the age of 21 that he finally made this dream come true even if he could speak very little English at the time. He started training at Gold’s Gym in Venice beach and after only two years of hard training he won the coveted Mr. Olympia title in New York.

He later went on to win the professional Mr.Olympia title seven times and ruled the world of bodybuilding during the 70’s. He not only won Mr.Universe 4 times but also won 2 weightlifting contests and 2 powerlifting contests. Arnold was a strong man and even won the Munich stone-lifting contest in 1967 where competitors lift a stone that weighs over 254 kg/560 lbs. that is lifted between the legs while standing on two foot rests.

Arnold was always interested in acting as a career and when he was approached for the filming of Pumping Iron playing a role as himself, he gladly accepted the offer which started his very prolific acting career. His first film however was Hercules in New York done in 1970 and then The Long Goodbye which was done in 1973.

Arnold started making movies on a regular basis and after Terminator 2 Judgement Day became the best-selling film in 1991 he was selected by the National Association of Theatre Owners to be the "International Star of the Decade".

While still involved with acting and making movies Arnold also decided to enter politics where he won the Governor of California and held that office for two terms. Always controversial in politics it is rumoured that he is seeking to change the law regarding non-born USA citizens allowed to run for president of the USA.

On April 26, 1986 Arnold married the niece of President John F. Kennedy, Maria Shriver and together they had four children. They separated in 2011 which may have cost Arnold some of his estimated worth of $200 million which all started with a successful bodybuilding career.
